## Purpose

Übergeordneter Hauptzweck der Stiftung ist das Verleihen von Impulsen für das kulturelleLeben in Stadt und Kanton Zürich sowie in der Schweiz zur Förderung der nationalen und internationalen Präsenz der Stadt und des Kantons Zürich sowie der mitwirkenden Kulturinstitute. Dieses Ziel soll erreicht werden durch ein mindestens alle zwei Jahre veranstaltetes internationales Festival mit hochkarätigen Opern-, Ballett-, und Theatervorstellungen, Konzerten und Ausstellungen der Zürcher Kulturinstitute sowie durch Veranstaltungen der jungen und alternativen Szene. Die Stiftung fördert hierzu die Zusammenarbeit der mitwirkenden Kulturinstitute und unterstützt insbesondere finanziell deren Zürcher Festspielveranstaltungen sowie Festspielveranstaltungen Dritter, die im Sinne des Stiftungsgedankens wirken. In Ausnahmefällen kann die Stiftung selbst Festspielveranstaltungen durchführen. Die Mittel der Stiftung dürfen nur im Sinne dieses Stiftungszweckes verwendet werden.
