## Purpose

Der Verein bezweckt in gemeinnütziger Weise die Pflege und Förderung des unabhängigen Journalismus in der Ostschweiz und insbesondere in der Stadt St. Gallen. Ein wichtiger Schwerpunkt dabei ist die Kulturvermittlung. Der Verein gibt sich die Aufgabe über kulturelle, politische und gesellschaftliche Themen zu berichten, über Anlässe und Veranstaltungen zu informieren und zur Meinungsbildung beizutragen. Zu diesem Zweck gibt der Verein ein regelmässig erscheinendes Magazin unter dem Titel «Saiten» heraus und betreibt gleichzeitig eine Onlineplattform. Ein Ostschweizer Veranstaltungskalender ist integraler Bestandteil der Publikationen. Die Print-Publikation liegt an verschiedenen Orten öffentlich und kostenlos zur Mitnahme auf. Der Verein führt zur Zweckerreichung einen nach kaufmännischer Art geführten Verlag oder andere Gewerbe, die nicht gewinnorientiert sind, und ist im Handelsregister einzutragen.
