## Purpose

Der Verein SMT fördert die Aus-, Weiter- und Fortbildung in allgemeiner und spezialisierter Chirurgie, weiterer operativer Disziplinen (inkl. Diagnostik, Anästhesie, intra- und perioperativer Behandlung und Pflege etc.) und anderen medizinischen Disziplinen in Schwellen- und Entwicklungsländern. Dazu werden unentgeltliche Einsätze der Mitglieder in ausgesuchten Ländern geleistet. Daneben unterstützen die SMT geeignete Ärztinnen und Ärzte sowie in speziellen Fällen andere Medizinalpersonen bei Weiterbildungsaufenthalten in der Schweiz. Im Weiteren kann der Verein SMT Infrastrukturprojekte in diesen Ländern unterstützen. Der Verein verfolgt keine kommerziellen Zwecke und erstrebt keinen Gewinn.
