## Purpose

Sammlung militärischer Literatur, mit dem Hauptzweck, das Rüstzeug für wehrwissenschaftliche Studien bereitzustellen. Dieses Ziel soll die Stiftung in enger Fühlung mit der lebendigen Entwicklung als Mittlerin zwischen der militärischen Praxis und ihren geistigen Grundlagen verfolgen. In diesem Rahmen hat sie die für eine Gebrauchsbibliothek zur Ausbildung der Truppenoffiziere erforderlichen Schriften zu beschaffen, ohne aber den Grundsatz zu verlassen, dass eine Sammlung von bleibendem Wert ausgebaut werden muss. Um ihr eine eigene Prägung zu sichern, sollen im Einklang mit der Tradition Basels auch Werke berücksichtigt werden, die zur ideellen Vertiefung der militärischen Bestrebungen und zum Einbau des Wehrgedankens in das allgemeine Geistesleben beitragen. Die Benützung steht allen in der Schweiz domizilierten Personen offen. Das Benützungsrecht der Offiziere der schweizerischen Armee und vor allem der Mitglieder der Stifter ist in weitherziger Weise zu handhaben und muss immer uneingeschränkt gewahrt bleiben.
