## Purpose

Zweck der Stiftung ist die Förderung einer dem Menschen und der Umwelt angepassten Technologie und die Verbesserung der Beziehungen des Menschen zur Umwelt. Zu diesem Zweck stellt sich die Stiftung insbesondere folgende Aufgaben: Sie fördert die Entwicklung und Erprobung von Technologien, die gleichzeitig menschengemäss, umweltschonend, energie- und rohstoffsparend sind. Sie fördert das Studium zukunftsfähiger Systeme und der zwischenmenschlichen Beziehungen mit ihren Auswirkungen auf die natürliche Umwelt und die Erarbeitung von sozialen, technologischen und ökonomischen Modellen. Ziel soll eine vielfältige und ganzheitliche Gestaltung der verschiedenen menschlichen und sozialen Lebensbereiche sein, die in Übereinstimmung mit den Erfordernissen der natürlichen Umwelt sind. Sie fördert im Sinne einer Verbindung von theoretischen Arbeiten und praktischem Lernen die Vermittlung von Kenntnissen und Fähigkeiten für die Herstellung angepasster Technologien zusammen mit dem Versuch, ganzheitlichere soziale und technologische Modelle zu entwickeln, die zu anderen Lebensformen und zu neuen Einstellungen gegenüber der Umwelt und den Menschen führen sollen. Sie fördert die Aufklärung der Bevölkerung darüber, was angepasste Technologien sind, in welchem Zusammenhang diese sinnvoll eingesetzt und genutzt werden können, und welche Konsequenzen diese für das Zusammenleben der Menschen untereinander und mit der Umwelt haben. Im weiteren fördert sie die Beratung von an solchen Fragen interessierten Einzelpersonen, Gemeinden, Handwerksbetrieben, Unternehmen, Verbänden etc. Zur Erfüllung dieser Aufgaben errichtet und führt die Stiftung ein Zentrum für angepasste Technologie und Sozialökologie, das Ökozentrum.
