## Purpose

Der Verband vertritt die ideellen und wirtschaftlichen Interessen der in den Public Relations bzw. in der institutionellen Kommunikation tätigen Spezialisten, Organisationen und Firmen in der Öffentlichkeit und gegenüber Staat, Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft. Er fördert das Ansehen des Berufsstandes, fördert die Wahrnehmung und die Akzeptanz der Public Relations, entwickelt das Berufsbild weiter, fördert den Austausch von Wissen und Erfahrung zwischen seinen Mitgliedern, erbringt Dienstleistungen zum Nutzen seiner Mitglieder, der Regionalgesellschaften sowie weiterer Branchenorganisationen, unterstützt die qualitativ einwandfreie Aus- und Weiterbildung, fördert die Anerkennung der Branche in der Öffentlichkeit und bei Behörden, stellt als Organisation der Arbeitswelt (OdA) das Prüfungswesen sicher, ist offizieller Vertreter der PR-Branche und Ansprechpartner für Belange der Public Relations gegenüber Bundesbehörden und Parlament, pflegt allgemein die Beziehungen zu den Medien, zu Politik, Wirtschaft, Kultur, Wissenschaft und Öffentlichkeit und kooperiert mit nationalen und internationalen Gremien und Verbänden, die im PR-Bereich tätig sind. Der Verband ist politisch und konfessionell neutral. Zur Förderung der Kompetenzentwicklung und Arbeitsmarktfähigkeit seiner Mitglieder und weiterer Branchenangehöriger kann der Verband als Nebenzweck eine Stellenbörse und weitere Dienstleistungen anbieten.
