Zweck des Vereins ist die Förderung des Recyclings von Aluminium, der engen Zusammenarbeit der Aluminium-Schmelzhütten ("Refiners") und Aluminium-Umschmelzwerke ("Remelters") sowie anderer Unternehmen, die sich mit dem Recycling von Aluminium auf industrieller Basis befassen, der Austausch von technischen, ökologischen und wirtschaftlichen Informationen, die Vertretung gemeinsamer Interessen gegenüber der Öffentlichkeit, insbesondere gegenüber nationalen und internationalen Behörden und Organisationen, die Wahrnehmung der Aufgabe als "Recycling Division" innerhalb der European Aluminium Association, die Vorbereitung und Ausarbeitung von generellen Vereinbarungen zwischen den Unternehmen der Aluminium-Recycling-Industrie untereinander und mit ihren Lieferanten und Abnehmern, soweit solche nach den gesetzlichen Bestimmungen der betreffenden Staaten zulässig sind.
