Zweck des Vereins ist die Wiederansiedlung und Erhaltung des Przewalski-Urwild-Pferdes in Zentralasien im Sinne der Richtlinien der IUCN / SSC (International Union for the Conservation of Nature / Species Survival Commission) sowie der integrale Schutz der Greater Gobi Strictly Protected Area alsKulturlandschaft und ihre Entwicklung in Richtung eines Biosphärenreservates im Sinne der IUCN. Insbesondere sollen: a. das Takhi-Projekt in die Gesamtentwicklung der Region sinnvoll eingebettet, b. Hilfebei sozioökonomischen Belangen der Bevölkerung angeboten, c. das Verständnis für die Wildpferde bei der ansässigen Bevölkerung gefördert, d. die Bereitstellung der in Zoos und Wildgehegen gezüchteten Tiere für die Übersiedlung nach Zentralasien gesichert, e. der Transport der Tiere organisiert, f. die Beobachtung und Betreuung der Tiere vor Ort garantiert, g. die Tiere ausgewildert und ihre Erhaltung in Freiheit gesichert, h. die wissenschaftliche Begleitung des Projektes garantiert, i. die publizistische Tätigkeit und Information über die Projekte weltweit gefördert und k. die Zusammenarbeit mit den anderen Organisationen, die an der Wiederansiedlung der Wildpferde arbeiten, gepflegt werden. Der Verein verfolgt keine kommerziellen Zwecke und erstrebt keinen Gewinn. Der Verein wird im Handelsregister eingetragen. Änderungen werden laufend gemeldet.
