## Purpose

Die Stiftung will die Forschung in Paraplegie unterstützen, fördern und betreuen. Ziele der Stiftung sind namentlich: Förderung und Unterstützung medizinischer Forschung auf dem Gebiet der Paraplegiologie; Förderung und Unterstützung der Grundlagen- und klinischen Forschung auf dem Gebiet des Nervenwachstums mit dem Ziel, zukünftigen Querschnittgelähmten ein Leben im Rollstuhl zu ersparen; Förderung und Unterstützung von Forschungsprogrammen mit dem Ziel, Querschnittgelähmten das Leben zu erleichtern; Sammlung und Speicherung weltweiter Forschungsergebnisse in der Paraplegiologie und Rehabilitation mit dem Ziel, den internationalen Informationsaustausch auf dem Gebiet der Paraplegiologie zu fördern. Die internationale Bedeutung der Stiftung soll dadurch erreicht werden, dass der Stiftungsrat und Forschungsrat mit Persönlichkeiten besetzt werden, welche auf ihrem Tätigkeitsgebiet internationales Ansehen erworben haben oder wichtige Positionen im In- und Ausland besetzen.
