## Purpose

Die Stiftung ist nicht gewinnorientiert. Die Stiftung hat zum Zweck, der operative Arm eines globalen Systems zur Identifikation von Rechtspersonen zu sein. Auf nicht gewinnorientierter Basis soll sie die Einführung einer weltweit anwendbaren Identifikation der Rechtsperson (Legal Entity Identifier - "LEI") in Form eines Referenzcodes unterstützen, der an Finanzgeschäften beteiligte Rechtspersonen eindeutig identifiziert. Die Stiftung soll so dazu beitragen, zahlreiche Ziele im Hinblick auf die Stabilität des Finanzsektors zu erreichen, wie besseres Risikomanagement, bessere Einschätzung von Risiken auf Mikro- und Makroebene, Erleichterung einer geordneten Abwicklung, Begrenzung von Marktmissbräuchen und Finanzbetrug, generell höhere Qualität und Genauigkeit von Finanzdaten. Darüber hinaus sollen die Zwecke erfüllt werden, die in der Regulatory Oversight Committee-Charta vom 5. November 2012 und im von der G20 genehmigten Bericht "A Global Legal Entity Identifier for Financial Markets" des Financial Stability Board vom 8. Juni 2012 festgehalten sind.
