## Purpose

Der Verein wahrt die Interessen der Fussgängerinnen und Fussgänger und stärkt ihre Stellung im Siedlungs- und Verkehrsraum. Der Verein ist ein Fachverband mit gemeinnützigem Charakter, parteipolitisch und konfessionell neutral. Als Fachorganisation gemäss Bundesgesetz über die Fuss- und Wanderwege (FWG) unterstützt sie die öffentliche Hand bei dessen Vollzug. Folgende Zielsetzungen werden angestrebt: Fördert die Planung, Schaffung und Erhaltung von attraktiven, sicheren und direkten Fussverkehrsnetzen und deren optimale Verknüpfung mit dem öffentlichen Verkehr; fördert fussgängerfreundliche Siedlungsräume mit geeigneten Aufenthaltsflächen; setzt sich für die Sicherheit der Fussgängerinnen und Fussgänger ein; setzt sich für wirksame Rechtsgrundlagen für Fuss- und Wanderwegnetze ein; engagiert sich dafür, dass gesundheitliche und ökologische Aspekte des Zufussgehens besser wahrgenommen werden; legt ein besonderes Augenmerk auf die Anforderungen von Kindern, Betagten und Menschen mit Behinderung; thematisiert die Kultur des Gehens.
