## Purpose

Der Verein ist eine gemeinnützige, nicht auf Gewinn ausgerichtete, in Europa tätige wissenschaftliche Organisation, deren Zweck insbesondere folgender ist: Förderung des bestmöglichen Wohlbefindens und minimaler Glaukom bedingter Sehbehinderung bei an Glaukom erkrankten Personen im Rahmen eines erschwinglichen Gesundheitssystems. Förderung von Austausch zwischen Wissenschaftlern und Anregung zur Zusammenarbeit um das Sehvermögen zu fördern. Förderung einer evidenz-basierenden Praxis und lebenslangem Lernen durch ein systematisches, umfassendes und häufig wiederholtes Training. Kommunikation der Wichtigkeit des Glaukoms, von Vision, Aufgaben und Aktivitäten der EGS, sowie deren Erkenntnisse wie auch die Förderung von partnerschaftlicher Zusammenarbeit aller mit der Behandlung des Glaukoms involvierten Interessensvertreter. Ermöglichung einer einheitlichen, evidenz-basierenden, hoch qualifizierten Behandlung zu tragbaren Kosten in den verschiedenen europäischen Gesundheitssystemen.
