## Purpose

Dans le cadre de larecherche scientifique appliquée au milieu alpin et tout particulièrement dans les domaines de la géologie, l'hydrologie, l'hydrogéologie, la climatologie et ceux connexes, la fondation vise, en conformité avec les concepts de développement durable, à: a) promouvoir l'amélioration et la coordination des connaissances physiques de l'environnement naturel du milieu alpin en général et en particulier du territoire cantonal et ses régions limitrophes; b) rechercher et apprendre à connaître les lois scientifiques régissant le milieu dans lequel vit une communauté humaine, afin que celle-ci puisse progressivement s'adapter au mieux à l'évolution de l'environnement montagneux dont celle cruciale des effets des variations climatiques naturelles et anthropiques sur le cycle de l'eau et sur les ressources naturelles de surface ou de profondeur dont celles à potentiel économique; c) constituer une banque de données scientifiques alpines et en faciliter l'accès aux chercheurs en créant les outils de communication et de diffusion nécessaires; d) instaurer à terme les structures de travail et d'accueil de façon à favoriser les recherches in situ
