## Purpose

Der Verein Caritas St.Gallen-Appenzell gewährleistet, unterstützt und fördert mit seiner Geschäftsstelle als Fachstelle Diakonie die diakonische Tätigkeit im Zuständigkeitsgebiet des Bischofs von St.Gallen (SG, Al, AR). Er fördert den Caritas-Gedanken in Kirche und Gesellschaft und setzt sich für gerechtere soziale und gesellschaftliche Strukturen ein und orientiert sich an der Grundlage der christlichen Botschaft. Der Verein orientiert sich am Leitbild der Caritas St.Gallen-Appenzell. Er beobachtet die sozialen und gesellschaftlichen Entwicklungen und findet Antworten auf aktuelle Herausforderungen wie die Wahrung der Würde aller Menschen, die Umsetzung der universellen Menschenrechte und der Chancengerechtigkeit in der Gesellschaft. Der Verein führt zur Erreichung dieses Zwecks, im Sinne der Diakonie und des sozialen Engagements der römisch-katholischen Kirche im Zuständigkeitsgebiet des Bischofs von St.Gallen (SG, Al, AR), sowie deren Pfarreien und Kirchgemeinden eine Geschäftsstelle mit einer oder mehreren Regionalstellen und Betrieben. Der Verein arbeitet mit Partnerorganisationen zusammen und baut seine Angebote subsidiär zu anderen sozialen Organisationen, der Pfarreien, der Kirchgemeinden, der Gemeinden und der Kantone St.Gallen und beider Appenzell auf. Der Verein Caritas St.Gallen-Appenzell arbeitet eng mit den anderen regionalen Caritasorganisationen und Caritas Schweiz zusammen. Er ist Mitglied beim Verein Caritas Schweiz. Der Verein engagiert sich sozial, solidarisch und nachhaltig für die gesamte Gesellschaft des Zuständigkeitsgebietes des Bischofs von St.Gallen (SG, Al, AR), ungeachtet der religiösen und politischen Anschauung sowie der ethnischen Zugehörigkeit der Zielgruppen.
